The Red Rock 4-Wheelers Inc. Informational has a much appreciated message on the Responsible Recreational Four Wheeling Page that reminds four wheelers not to mess up.
In my opinion the fisrt and most important skill of cyclists, hikers, and four wheelers is to minimize one's impact on the land. Four wheeling is about going over the ruts and obstacles on existing roads. It is not about creating new roads around the tough spots.
