Hole N the Rock House
Visitors to Moab love the Hole N the Rock House (especially during the hot summer months. The Hole in a Rock House is built into the Red Rock. The temperature below ground tends to stay a constant temperature. In most places, the temperature 10 feet down is an average of the temperature throughout the year.
Moab is the perfect latitude for subterranean homes. Places further North are too cold. For example, the Timpanogos Cave outside Provo is usually 45 degrees. You need to wear a coat when spelunking during the summer.
I admit, I am a bit surprised that there aren't more houses dug into the soft Wingate and Navajo sandstone cliffes.
The Hole in Rock house site has information on this local attraction including a Java enabled virtual tour.
